WINNING STORIES
The writing and postcards halloween competition was a great success. Three participating students have received a 20 euros prize to be spent in a local library and halloween candies have been also given to the postcards winners. Congratulations to all of them!
25-N STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
On the 25th of November, the International Day for the elimination of violence against women is celebrated in Américo Castro High School.
Students and teachers elaborated material to exhibit in different parts of the school.
XMAS AT IES AMÉRICO CASTRO
Door decorations, Xmas Cards and Letters to Santa were exhibitied in the school during the month of December.
PEACE DAY
Peace Day ,30th January,is celebrated at Ies Américo Castro with a giant poster where all the teachers and students show their smiles, covered by the face mask since the beginning of the pandemic. It is exhibited in the hall of the institute and it is organized by the teacher Isabel M. Pérez from the School Plan, Space for Peace, in collaboration with plans for bilingualism and equality and participation of the entire center.
A poster is also made from the English department, entitled” When you close your eyes and think of peace, what do you see? where students leave their messages .
SAINT VALENTINE´S DAY
To celebrate love and friendship in Valentine´s Day in Américo Castro, doors were decorated with hearts and, flowers, love letters and messages were sent and written among all the students. From the English Departament, students were encouraged to write love letter to themselves with the aim of being reading in a future and so make a reflection.
A letter to oneself can be written as a letter of motivation, and in this sense, these letters work as something therapeutic, to raise self-esteem or to apologize to onesselves.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN´S DAY
Our students at IES Américo Castro have done these posters dedicated to the Women´s Day to celebrate this event and thus supporting all the women in the world.
POSTERS MADE BY BACHILLERATO STUDENTS
Remarkable posters have been made by Bachillerato students about important women in History,Science, Literature, and Music but highlight the work done by two students talking about important women in their families: their mums, here you can see their biographies.
BOOK WORLD DAY
On the occasion of the Book Day, the English Department created two stands situated at the entrance of the school, where students chose their books and copied and drew their favorite titles and covers.
At the same time, the French and Spanish Language Department made as well posters and decorated walls and halls with sentences related to books and the importance of reading. Thanks to all of them!
ELLIOT´S FAREWELL
The High School Américo Castro, teachers, and students said goodbye to Eliot, our American assistant language. Students gave some presents to him and made farewell postcards and thank you letters for his great job. Thanks a lot, Eliot, we will miss you and we wish you the best!

PHILOSOPHY ACTIVITIES
The Philosophy teacher Manuel Trapiello discussed the topic “Can renewable energy power modernize civilization?” with high school Bachillerato students.
The 1º Bachillerato students created posters about the History of Astronomy in the 20th century. Later on, they made an oral presentation about the topic.
MATHS ACTIVITIES
The 3º E.S.O. C students are guided in English by the Math teacher , Isabel M.Pérez, dealing the topic about geometric progressions for the study of the spread of
covid 19 disease.
All of them learned about it and They all enjoyed the lesson in English and learnt a lot about this so current topic!
CHEMISTRY ACTIVITIES
The 3ºE.S.O. students, guided by the Chemistry teacher Cristina Fernández, studied the Periodic Table of the elemnets in a funny way as can be seen in the pictures!
